Juan Muñoz-Tebar studied Latinoamerican Literature at Universidad Central de Venezuela (1997). For many years he was a reader of Venezuela’s Book Bank Evaluation Committee. He was also editor of the Children’s Books Study and Promotion Center of this institution. Later, he acted as proofreader and writer of reading reports for several publishing companies, until he started to work as a scriptwriter for radio and television. Travelled to Spain to complete a Master’s Degree in Theory and Practice of Creative Documentary Making at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (2002). Since then, he has taught documentary video workshops for children (Tercer-Ojo, TEB and Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona – CCCB). Muñoz-Tebar has also worked as scriptwriter, producer and editor of educational videos. In 2011, he was awarded the Audiovisual Media Award by the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology – FECYT – First Science Video Competition. He has participated as scriptwriter and director assistant in several productions. The last one, The Kingdom of Mister Edhi, won the TELERAMA AWARD and the SILVER FIPA AWARD (Creative Documentary) at Biarritz’s 2012 Festival. Sylvia & Simon is his first children’s book.
