Menena Cottin studied graphic design in Caracas,Venezuela where she was born. After spending a year en NYC and studied writing and illustration in Parsons School of Design and Pratt Institute, she began to create childrens books. She is the author of The Black Book of Colors, winner of the New Horizons price at the Bologna Children´s Book Fair (2007), Prix Litteéraire de la Citoyenneté in France (2008), Top Ten Children’s Books by the New York Times Book Review (2008), and selected among the ten best books by Venezuela’s Banco del Libro (2007). Author, illustrator and designer of more than 20 published books, Menena lives in Caracas with her husband. She has two son and four grandchildren.
