Carlos Machado Allison is a Venezuelan scientist with a degree in Biology from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. He specialized in medical entomology at the Universidade de São Paulo and obtained a PhD in Genetics from Notre Dame University. He has held academic positions at the Universidad Central de Venezuela (UCV) and the Instituto de Estudios Superiores de Administración (IESA). Research Associate or Fellow at the Ross Institute and the British Museum, England, and at the UNAM and the Instituto Politécnico de México. Dr. Machado is temporary Advisor to The Pan American Sanitary Bureau in Central America, and International Specialist of the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture  (IICA) in Central America. He has served as Director of the School of Biology of the Instituto de Zoología Tropical (UCV), was Research Director of IESA and Director General of the main agricultural research institute in Venezuela (FONAIAP).

Dr. Machado has authored more than 150 scientific and technical publications, including 25 university textbooks, general knowledge books and novels. Cognitio Books & Apps published his three-volume saga on Venezuelan History (La Casa de Altagracia, 2012) and a book on the social history of technology (La Aventura Tecnológica, 2013). With his latest book: Parima, he ventures into a new literary genre: the whodunit. Parima is a novel shaped by his knowledge on environmental sciences and the history of many countries.   He is currently a member of the Venezuelan Academy of Physical, Mathematical and Natural Sciences.
